Frequently asked questions

Are electronic signatures legally valid?

Yes, in most countries they are. The ECT Act covers South Africa, ESIGN does the same in the US, and eIDAS handles the EU. Some document types or regulated workflows require a higher assurance level, which is where certificate-backed digital signatures such as AeS or QeS can matter.

Does NomaSign support AeS and QeS?

Yes. NomaSign supports Advanced Electronic Signatures (AeS) and Qualified Electronic Signatures (QeS). The key point is that the signing person or organisation has to provide the required certificate, because that certificate and the associated identity process are what determine whether the signature qualifies as AeS or QeS. NomaSign is certificate agnostic, so it can work with certificates from many commercial CAs and government root CAs.

Can NomaSign provide AeS and QeS certificates?

Where are my signed documents stored?

Signed documents stay in your connected cloud storage (OneDrive or Google Drive). NomaSign doesn’t store your files on our servers, so you remain in control of where your documents live.

Do signers need to create an account?

No, recipients don’t need a NomaSign account. They click the link in their email, look over the document, and sign right in their browser.

What document formats can I send for signature?

NomaSign primarily works with PDF documents. You can upload existing PDFs or convert Word documents to PDF before uploading.

Can multiple people sign the same document?

Yes. You can add multiple signers to a document and specify the signing order (sequential) or allow everyone to sign at any time (parallel).

How do I know when someone has signed?
