Digital Signing Made Simple
Send documents for signature and get them signed online in minutes, not days. NomaSign supports both everyday e-signatures and digital signatures for businesses that need more.
What is Digital Signing?
Digital signing is the electronic process of signing documents without printing, scanning, or posting. Instead of a handwritten signature on paper, signers apply their signature electronically through a secure online platform.
Note on terminology: On this site, we sometimes use "digital signing" as everyday shorthand for electronic signatures. In standards contexts, "digital signature" can mean a certificate-based cryptographic signature embedded in the document (for example, a PDF certificate signature). NomaSign supports both electronic signatures and digital signatures. AeS and QeS depend on the signer or organisation supplying the required certificate and meeting the relevant legal requirements.
For many business documents, electronic signatures are widely used and have been upheld in courts in many jurisdictions when appropriate for the document type and properly captured. Each signature event can be supported by an audit trail (timestamps, IP addresses, and device information) and document integrity checks.
For businesses, digital signing eliminates delays, reduces costs, and creates a better experience for clients and partners who need to sign documents.
Why Use Digital Signing?
Save Time
Documents that took days to sign now take minutes. No printing, posting, or chasing signatures.
Legally Valid
Electronic signatures are widely used for many business documents. Legal requirements vary by jurisdiction and document type.
Secure & Auditable
Every signature includes timestamps, IP addresses, and device/browser information in the audit trail, and NomaSign seals the document chain so the PDF cannot be silently edited after it is sent.
AeS & QeS Ready
AeS and QeS depend on the signer or organisation supplying the appropriate certificate. NomaSign provides the signing application and uses that certificate to apply the signature.
Certificate Agnostic
Use certificates from your chosen CA or government root CA. Certificate issuance, signer verification, and setup depend on how those certificates are supplied.
Sealed Document Chain
NomaSign certifies the document before it goes out and appends each signature as a new signed revision. The completed PDF can be sealed to PAdES Baseline B-LTA for long-term validation.
Your Cloud Storage
Signed documents stay in your OneDrive or Google Drive. You maintain full control of your files.
Send From Your Email
Signing requests come from your domain, building trust and avoiding spam filters.
Unlimited Documents
Send as many documents as you need under our fair-use policy without worrying about document caps.
Digital Signing FAQ
What is digital signing?
Digital signing is the process of signing documents electronically. Depending on the use case, that can mean a general e-signature or a digital signature that uses a certificate to prove signer identity and document integrity.
Is digital signing legally valid?
Electronic signatures are widely recognised for many business documents under frameworks such as South Africa's ECT Act, the EU's eIDAS regulation, and the US ESIGN/UETA laws. Some regulated documents require higher-assurance signatures, which is where AeS or QeS may apply depending on jurisdiction and document type.
How does digital signing work?
You upload a document, place signature fields where needed, and send it to signers via email. Signers click a secure link, review the document, and apply their signature. The signed document is then stored with a complete audit trail.
Is digital signing secure?
NomaSign uses encrypted connections, records a detailed audit trail (timestamps, IP addresses, and device/browser information), and stores signed documents in your own cloud storage (OneDrive or Google Drive).
What's the difference between digital signing and e-signature?
The terms are often used interchangeably in everyday business. In standards contexts, a digital signature usually means a certificate-based cryptographic signature, while e-signature is the broader category. NomaSign supports both standard e-signatures and digital signatures when the signer supplies the right certificate.
